War records?

Question

Looking for French and Indian war records for the British/Colonial army. Any websites? Can't find them on ancestry. One of my grandfathers was in it, Daniel Garfield, who was killed in the war in 1760.

The State Library of Virginia. website index www..Lva.lib.va.us.and www.vagenweb.org. try www.archives.gov. Also check out West Virginia at www.wvagenweb.org because West Virginia would have been part of Virginia at the time good site is wvculture.org.If you know what war or battle your Daniel was in try that county library.Remember that some counties were renamed as the population grew.There are many books that may mention your ancestor's name "Adventures on the Western Waters"you can read this on the webroots websites.Try www.soldiers and sailors system.org.Also national park service sometimes has the local histories of battles,that can lead you to more info. It's out there somewhere but you have to really search.Some libraries will look up information for you with the books they own.Also check genealogy societies in the are where your ancestor lived or died.Any of the 13 colony's Brother's and cousins many times went to war together,look for family names in a group and it could lead to your man.

The public domain books (full view) are free PDF downloads. The problem is, there were many Daniel Garfields. Since there were no "American" soldiers at the time, it's possible any records would be archived in England.

I've found plenty for my Revolutionary soldier ancestors, but have hit a blank on the French-Indian War, too.
