If while in a combat zone you went into a home which was empty and you found a stack of gold coins would you keep them?

Lets say there were 20 coins each one valued at more then 1,000 dollars US..

Would you leave them there?

Would you stuff them into your gas mask for safe keeping?

How would you handle the situation?

  1. id take them,  unless i knew there were serious penalties for that kinda stuff which i assume there are

  2. i'm stashing the cash fo sho, spoils of war

  3. I'd take it.But then again i'm not the most moral person.

  4. I would leave it there or I would take it and turn it over to my COC.

Yea that's good money but it's not worth my career.

Money is not one of the reasons I joined.

  5. i think the term"spoils of war "could be enacted in this situation

  6. House is empty, would take them without hesitation. That may be money used for the enemy! Then...after careful thought would report findings to a superior officer. At least, thats what I would think I would do.

  7. Nah, we all saw what happened to that guy in Army Times the other week who took the half million.

I move them out of sight within the house to prevent others from being tempted and drive on.

Dude, you had to go around with your pro mask?  That sucks.  That thing stayed at the bottom of my duffel my entire tour.

  8. Integrity

Integrity is closely related to moral courage. But whereas moral courage is centered around the willingness to take action, integrity is a spotlight into your soul. Integrity is more than the manifestation of your honesty. It is the litmus test of respect - it determines whether you will be taken seriously or not. Fail the integrity test in a young person's eyes and you will fail to be a positive influence on them.

I would list the other 13 however this one fits the question and I have been in the situation.

It is your duty as a leader to report the findings and turn them over.

    Simple and easy!

If you dont then it would just prove that you are nothing but a common thief and a discredit to the uniform in which you wear and an insult to your Branch of Service.

  9.   This is almost unimaginable but I would keep them if possible. Anyway some of the other soldiers in your unit would most likely kill you for them if the knew about it.This bonanza would be a high risk at any rate.   You certanly do have a imagination and some larceny in you heart!

  10. What coins?

  11. well it depends who they belong too, think about it, lets say they belonged to the terrorist group as part of their money to buy weapons and what not, then easily i wouldnt hesitte to take it, however if it belonged to lets say a prince such as a saudi prince, i would return maybe half of them, in hopes of being thanked by the prince and perhaps even becoming a VIP guest at his palace, but if he didnt do that and just said thank you now leave, then i would still have 10 coins to my disposal.

  12. Assuming I knew that I could get away with it, I would take the money.

Why should Haliburton and the men who sent me to die be the only ones to get rich in a war that they started?
