War with Russia???????????

Are we going to war with Russia? I heard something on the news about Russia shooting people or something. What's going on? Is the US going to war with them?

  1. Maybe one day.  But not now, not yet.  

    I hope you can understand the implications of this... a war between the US and Russia.  We are both World Superpowers that posses nuclear weapons.  Russia has been threatening to use nukes for a while now... on anyone who attacks them.  Or to anyone they perceive as a threat.

    Georgia is a small country, the size of the state of SC, that borders Russia.  Georgia attacked the small territory of S. Ossetia a few days ago.  And Russia moved in to protect it's citizens.  As they have handed out passports to 90% of the people there and now are able to claim them as citizens.  But let's not forget that they are citizens of Georgia.  

    It's moreless a power stuggle to control this region for it's resources.  Georgia and Russia are both wrong in this... in my opinion.

    And the US is supporting Georgia.  "We" have trained their troops. "We" have mercenaries and probably US troops there NOW, involved in the fighting.  Yeah we are very much in the middle of this one.  But as of yet, we are NOT at war with them.  Officially.


  2. Russia and Georgia are duking it out and we, as a free democratic nation, support them in their own independence. Right now we are not about to get into a war with Russia, but I don't know what would happen if Russia decided to just take Georgia, but I doubt they will.

No, #1 US  can't afford it financially #2 US is saving for a war with Iran in October #3 Georgia is in Russia's sphere of influence and if the US tries to re arm the Georgian military either via NATO or  Israeli military "advisers" expect a reaction from Mr. Putin, ex KGB agent, like 1962 Cuban Missile crisis  but with a humiliating back down by the US. #4 It is called  a Check( as in chess)  in the Great Game for oil and water resources in the Middle East. Remember, Hitler invaded Russia for the oil in the Caucasus mountain area.  Next move is the US's and it has smaller fish to fry so to speak ( got to have victories in an election year)

  4. No way, it's just the russkys arranging their own internal stuff, Georgia doesn't want to give independence to Osettya Republic (to control their resources). By the way, the Republic of Georgia is where Stalin was from

  7. No, some people are trying to justify Russia invading Georgia. Russia wants control of the oil pipelines thus, control over the smaller countries that used to be "members" of the Soviet Union.

  9. No. US already occupies two countries and has enough trouble with that.

    Even during peace time, US wouldn't mess with Russia, could lead to a Nuke war. If not, military spending would be so great, would corrupt the economy, if not lost.

    US-Russia are just having a far cry to the cold war. Russians want revenge, US wants to establish itself as the Boss.

    US-Russia relations have not been going well since US indirectly restricted Russia's weapons exports and Russia clearly declared the arms race as re-initiated as response.

    But it's just a De ja vu of the cold war, that probably will be a lot more subtle and with a short life span.

    US needs Russia on it's side now, since they have made enemies with Muslim nations and have to import %50 of it's oil.

No---I do not think we will be going to war with Russia-----what SHOULD happen is a joint united coalition force to form and present ultimatums to Russia----we would likely be a part of that coalition of allies.---I do not think we would go it alone. Russia needs to be stopped-----the slaughter happening in Georgia and surrounding regions is wrong.

  13. It would never happen. Too much to lose. The big boys at the top will be  negotiating stability. It is a show of strength. They will let civilians and innocent people die and let Russia maintain their military supremacy over their neighbors. Then peace will be declared.

  14. America cannot afford to go to war, it has spent too much money on Iraqi.

    Besides, it is Russia having a serious dispute with Georgia, one could hardly call it a war. Its to one sided for that.
