Waratahs looking forward to deny Reds their 7th consecutive win in Super XV
Waratahs are expecting the return of their first string players during their weekend game against the Reds.
Queensland Reds are currently leading the Super XV with seven wins out of the eight games they have played so far in the season. Reds have lost a game during the round two of the Super XV. Reds with sixth consecutive wins under their belt will be looking
forward to take revenge of their defeat delivered by Waratahs at the Aussie Stadium.
Reds after their second round loss have came back strongly and so far have sustained their form and in doing so they have successfully overcame the challenge of Stormers and Bulls. However, Reds would like to repay Waratahs anything similar to four tries
to zero victory.
Waratahs this weekend will be taking a rejuvenated Reds at Suncorp. They are expecting a stiff challenge and definitely the return of their key players help them to put a good show against the super rugby leaders.
It is expected that the Waratahs will have the services of their Captain Phil Waugh, Wycliff Palu and Tom Carter for their match against the Reds. Waratahs are coming from last weekend’s defeat as Blues thrashed them 31 – 17. However, during the second half
of the game they have shown the glimpses of what they are capable of delivering.
The Reds will also be full of confidence as they are on a record six wins in a row for the first time since 2006. However, Waratahs coach Chris Hickey is confident that if his team can perform as they did during the second half of their game against the
Blues, they have the chance to deny Reds their seventh consecutive win in the season.
He also has expressed the confidence that his defence has the capabilities to stop the surge of Reds particularly he mentioned Quade Cooper and Will Genia. Quade Cooper is the second highest point scorer in the Super Rugby just behind the Rebels James O’Connor.
The return of Phil Waugh at Flanks, believed to be the best in the Business and Centre Tom Carter for Waratahs have their boosted match preparations. They are still waiting on Berrick Barnes and Wycliff Palu. The medical staff however has cleared Berrick
Barnes but is yet to hit the trainings.
Waratahs would enter the match that they are the only team that has beaten the Reds in this season so far. This gives the team that much more confidence and gives them something to fight for and deliver their best. Waratahs during the season have scored
more penalties then Reds and if they can repeat the second half performance of last game in the defence they might end the Reds winning run.
Reds on the other hand now are very different unit now and most importantly have the winning momentum with them. One thing for sure is that if both teams played to their full potential, 80 minutes during the weekend would be full of quality rugby.
