Waratahs name squad for last round match of Super Rugby against Brumbies – Rugby news
The New South Wales Waratahs have named their team for the final round match of the ongoing Super Rugby season against the Brumbies. The Waratahs will take on the Brumbies on June 18, at ANZ Stadium, in Sydney, for their do or die match to qualify for the
next stages of Super Rugby championship. At the moment they are placed in seventh place on the points table and need to finish their round matches’ campaign within the top six teams of the tournament to qualify for the play-offs.
On the other hand, the Brumbies have nothing to lose in their last match of this years’ Super Rugby campaign, as they are already out of the play-off runs. The Waratahs, who have had a rough and tough season during the whole competition, are hopeful to crush
the weak side of ACT Brumbies.
If the Waratahs are able to defeat the Brumbies with a greater margin it will help them to earn a bonus point in the match, that will further strengthen their position for the playoffs. They have made three major changes to their line-up for the crucial
match against the Brumbies.
The club has included Tatafu Polota-Nau and Benn Robinson in their forward packs, whereas they named Dan Vickerman to start off the benches as a reserve player. All three players, who have been included for the must win game, have not played a major part
of the ongoing Super Rugby.
Dave Dennis, who plays at No 8 for the Waratahs, asked the newcomers to play their natural game during Saturday’s fixture. He said that, “It doesn't get any bigger than this. Win, and we're in the finals it's as simple as that. We showed last week that we're
capable of playing an exciting brand of rugby at the business end of the year and we want to bring the same mindset on Saturday night.”
He further said that, "There's a few changes to the side but we've all got confidence in each other and the win over the Highlanders showed that we have the depth to perform well if we execute accurately." The ANZ Stadium in Sydney will see the results of
the changes in the match between the two Australian derbies on June 18.
