Waratahs seek home crowd support to help them win playoff seat - Super Rugby news
Australian derby, New South Wales Waratahs, is seeking the home crowd support to produce encouraging results to qualify for the next stages of Super Rugby. The Waratahs are taking on the Brumbies to ensure their place in the top six teams of the tournament.
Waratahs coach Chris Hickey is hoping the best output of the season by his team and his hopeful the home-town crowd will rally the squad.
The last round match of Super Rugby will be played at ANZ Stadium, in Sydney, which is the home pitch of the Waratahs. The coach believes if the side is backed up by local fans it will add extra energy into the players, who are already motivated to win the
game at every cost. The match is a do or die situation for them as los can put them out of the championship.
Talking to reporters, Hickey said that the home crowd has always been an advantage for the hosting side if the crowd comes to encourage their team. He further said that, "If we can get a good crowd behind us and plenty of support, like you saw last night
at Origin with the Blues, I think we can get the job done. The reality is, if we don't perform on Saturday night, that's the end of our season.”
Meanwhile Hickey is well aware of the Brumbies’ strength that produced an upset victory over the Australian top spots Reds in their previous match. Hickey said that Waratahs have not ignored the surprise element in the upcoming clash and would try to deal
with the Brumbies properly to remain in the competition.
He further stated that Brumbies will definitely give them a tough time in the match but with the support of the fan, Waratahs will be able to defeat them. He argued, "I'm sure it will be running around in some people's heads there. It may not be their prime
motivation and they're coming off the back of two really good wins, so they're bringing a lot of momentum into this game."
At the same time Brumbies are also committed to end their season with a victory, even though they are already out of the play-offs.
