Yes, perfectly possible. Except there's no such thing as a Communications rating any more. The branch split into CIS (Comms information systems) and Seaman Specialists two years ago.

Sorry, being pedantic. But there's no reason why you couldn't achieve PO doing comms. My DO at Collingwood was CRS Rosie Dodd... now WO Rosie Dodd. If you've ever been through WMO Portsmouth you might have bumped into her. God help you :) Lovely woman, honest guv!

Anyway, she made Warrant Officer. d**n sure you could make PO.
