Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine and Resistance make strong debuts in the overall UK charts
Sales may not be the factor which defines a game’s success, but they are one of the indicators which count when determining whether or not it was a hit or not.
With a number of games making their debuts over the weekend, as well as a number of games which were released in the previous couple of weeks still doing well in the charts, it was interesting to see how the overall games sales chart in the United Kingdom
would look once the dust had settled.
Polyphony Digital must have a tear in their eye as they see their driving simulation game, Gran Turismo 5 make an appearance in the charts. The Sony exclusive title comes in at number 10, despite being almost a year old.
A gaming legend in many rights, Star Fox 64’s return was eagerly anticipated and the Nintendo title seems to be living off that anticipation as it manages to announce itself in the Top 10 at the number 9 spot.
Proving that Lego is more than just blocks is Lego Pirates of the Caribbean. How the game is proving that point however, even we do not know, we just added that statement for the slightly dramatic effect. What we do know is that the game has settled in at
number 8 for the week.
The Rugby World Cup 2011 has a game inspired and bears the same name. Developed by 505 Games, Rugby World Cup 2011 is still in the charts and still going strong at number 7.
Like a rash that does not go away, Zumba Fitness continues to puzzle gamers as to how the game is still in the charts after having spent a majority of three months. Most games die out by then, but it seems Zumba is super fit.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution may have crossed the 2-million units sold milestone, but that is not stopping it from selling even more as it comes in at number 5.
At number 4, is the final chapter in the Resistance trilogy as Joseph Capelli tries once and for, to rid the world of the Chimera. The PlayStation 3 exclusive title did well enough to earn itself the number 4 spot on its debut. Had it been a multiplatform
game, one could have expected it to have finished even higher.
Driver: San Francisco is still what gamers seem to want as Ubisoft seem to have a hit on their hands as the game stays in the Top 3 for another week.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine had a strong opening week on all platforms and manages to take the runner-up position, however, it seems that nothing is better than making the undead dead again, as Dead Island is number 1 in the UK.
