Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine impresses in the Xbox 360 Charts
There is always plenty of hype surrounding games prior to their release and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is a testament to that. While it may not be the only way to gauge whether a game was any good or not, sales figures are always taken into consideration
and are a major contributing factor.
So it is time to find out how THQ’s title fared in its debut week against the likes of Deep Silver’s Dead Island.
Where there are Xbox 360s there is bound to be a strong following of American Football, even if it is in the United Kingdom. Managing to keep itself in the season for another week is Madden NFL 12, though it seems that this may very well be its last week
in the Top 10.
The sublime, the smooth and satisfyingly rough DiRT 3 is still power sliding around in the charts as it crosses the finishing line in 9th place for the previous week.
The Microsoft Kinect title, which was set to scare the pants off of gamers, has disappointed when it comes to sales as it scares no one at the number 8 spot.
Lego games are also great fun for gamers and great sources of income for their publishers as Disney are earning a fair amount with Lego Pirates of the Caribbean, still wondering why the rum is always gone, in the number 7 position.
The Rugby World Cup 2011 is still doing what it does best and holding off the competition for the number 5 spot. Many expected the game to have gone down in terms of sales figures by now, but it has remained strong, which is a good thing for 505 Games.
After a strong debut and contributing more than 50% of the games overall sales across all platforms, Deus Ex: Human Revolution has now started the inevitable decline, which all games of its genre go through and can be found at number 4.
Driving around the streets of San Francisco, which in this case is the number 3 spot, is Driver: San Francisco. Horrible introductions apart, the latest Driver game is the first in the series for next generation consoles and gamers seem to have taken to
it fairly well.
Debuting at number 2 for the Xbox 360 charts is Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, which is matching that forecast of some analysts who claimed the game will be a huge commercial success. While it is still too soon to confirm that statement, the early signs
do look promising.
Still hacking, shooting and running away from Zombies on the number one position is Dead Island. It seems Xbox owners have a thing for Zombies, and that is not necessarily a bad thing, especially with the Zombie apocalypse set to take place in 2012.
