Warhammer 40k - Points?

2 days ago i picked up battle for marcragge then learnt the basics, then i got a space marine bike, and space marine combat squad. While i was reading a space marine codex, it siad when you put special items on your units ( Eg Grenades )

it has some sort of points?

  1. In Warhammer 40k the points is your basis to how much you will play. Your space marine squad will cost a certain amount of points. I don't know about normal marines but chaos marines cost 15 points a model so they probably cost 14 or 15 also. Each marine is 15 points so multiply by amount. Your bike also has a point value. At the base though generally the units aren't to good. You need to give them upgrades or special items. These will cost extra points and some will be either unit specific *champions or just your one bike* or for the whole squad *the marines will most likely all have grenades* By using these points you can make an army list. This army list with the force organization chart makes your army. Using this army you play against someone else with the same amount of points in there army. In case you don't know Force Organization its the rules of squads you have to follow. You have to have at least 1 HQ choice and 2 Troop choices. To max out you can only have 2 HQ choices 3 elites 3 fast attack 3 heavy support and 6 troop choice maxed. So make sure to not buy things you cant use.
