I want to mix my Deamon Hunters with Steel Legion

is this wise?Or should I just buy Inquisitorial Guards??

Does it really matter...I really want to mix Steel Legion but is it better for me to buy Inquisitorial Gaurds or maybe even sisters of battle?

  1. You should use miniatures you like. Winning isn't that important.

The Daemonhunters tend to be most effective when your opponent has psykers or daemons in his army. So their effectiveness varies. The Daemonhunter miniatures are also very expensive points-wise (The Inquisitors and Grey Knights specially), so if you have bad luck at dice, you can lose a lot of points from your army when your few Daemonhunter models get killed.

    Happy gaming!

Edit regarding the statement by precinctomega:

As specifically mentioned on page 21 of the Daemonhunters codex, Daemonhunters can be included as allies with Sisters of Battle.

  2. Do you mean Daemonhunters or Witch hunters?  Sisters of Battle are an option only to the latter.  The former get Grey Knights.

However, either way, taking Imperial Guard in an Inquisition army is a great option.  For a start, it potentially gives you three armies: an Inquisition army, an Imperial Guard army and a combined army.

The ability to take Armoured Fist squads without having to take a full infantry platoon first is a definite advantage and very suited to your plan to use Steel Legion (I hope you have deep pockets, though!).  Be sure to include sundry heavy weapons platoons and at least two tanks, as the ability to mass firepower is the Imperial Guard's biggest strength.

You may also want to max out your Troops choices (as these'll be vital under the new 5th Edition rules for seizing objectives), perhaps with a couple of squads of Inquisition Storm Troopers in Chimeras.  The mass of armour, multiple multilasers, a couple of battle cannons and a dense line of heavy weapons (a combination of autocannons and lascannons is favourite) should make your army a terrifying prospect for any opponent to face.
