I have a light switch that gets warm when the lights are on. This is not a dimmer switch and none of my other switches do this. Does anybody know if this is bad..... should I replace it ?

  1. You could have a loose connection to the switch which would cause it to heat up.  Yes you could just tighten the connections but I would change the switch out.  Make sure you get the right switch, if you have aluminum wiring get a compatible switch.  Also if you have the option of backstabbing the wires into the switch, go for the screws anyway - better long term connection.

  2. Its not good, and replacement switches are only fifty nine cents at H/D.

  3. Yes you could have arching inside the switch. Change it out and monitor the switch. My guess is the problem is already cured. Is a possibility you are controlling alot of power off this switch. What does this switch control?
