Warm mist vs cold mist humidifier?

I have a warm mist humidifier but my pediatrician recommended a cold mist humidifier. This is because my 13 month old has a little cold, nothing major, and is not on antibiotics. Does it really matter if it is cold or warm mist? If so, why?

  1. someone told me that the warm mist ones, breed bacteria. dont know if thats true or not, but i would get a cold mist one...specially if the dr recomended it.

  2. Really, it doesn't even matter.

I read on a website that by the time it gets to your child it is at room temperature anyways. So, like I said, really it does not matter which one you get!

  3. I was told to get a cold mist because the warm breeds bacteria.

  4. do u want hot moisture in the air or cold?? cold mist humidifiers help u breathe better. lyk opens up the badness. get this one. i have it nd its perfect:

  5. My ped said just the opposite, that we needed a warm mist, our daughter was a preemie though and the cold mist would cool her too much.
