  1. Ah, my winter outfit, keeps me very warm, I actually have had to work on the beach in the middle of winter(guided rides, chilly winds off the ocean)

So, stockings, riding breeches, Knee high socks, jeans, ariat boots, tank top, long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, hoodie, polor fleece jacket from stateline tack, ear warmers, my helmet, or  a fleece hat if not riding, work gloves.  Ride bareback with nylon reins so they don't slip and being bareback helps keep me warm from the horses body heat.

  2. Silk long underwear and layered polar tech type knits.  I use both hand warmers and foot warmers...I buy them by the case.

  3. for me my justin boots keep my feet worm, i have a jean jacket with like sherpa lining thats good for wen its snowing or wen its just a cold breeze outside, they make a special thermal underwear for wen its cold so u dont freez ur butt off, i just use leather gloves i find at any store

and believe it or not my wool felt cowboy hat keeps my head worm

    i ride western

  4. well, when its REALLY cold and snowy i wear..

long johns (Under armor style that keeps you NOT sweaty..)

    winter riding pants (fleece)

    jeans.

    regular socks

    fleece socks

rubber boots (just plain rubber boots.. i don't like winter boots since they're bulky

    and

under armor style long sleeve top

    short sleeve top

    fleece sweatshirt

    wind breaker

i can't wear hats, and i can't really wear gloves since i can't do anything with them on, so i keep hand warmers in my pockets (lol) and stick my hands in when they get to cold.. haha.

and i live in new england, and my area has all the records for our states snow so i'm used to dressing for the cold (and the hot)

EDIT: i forgot to add.. this is for when i'm working mostly, i wear layers so you can strip some.

but when i ride, i take off the jeans (hard to do! lol) and the windbreaker (and sometimes the sweatshirt.) and put on my regular riding boots over the fleece socks.  I also keep the handwarmers in my pockets, and wear regular riding gloves.

  5. Since temperatures here are generally below freezing all winter, I wear lots of layers. I wear under armour, a tee shirt, a sweatshirt, and a thick vest. I really can't stand puffy winter coats, and I'm incapable of doing anything productive while wearing gloves. For pants, I generally just wear regular riding pants or jeans, my legs never get too cold. I have a pair of Mountain Horse winter boots that I absolutely love. They're a tad clunky to ride in, but they're great for working around the barn. I can't remember the specific model name, but I'm pretty sure they were around $235 when I bought them. Knee high socks are great, sometimes in multiple layers, and hand and feet warmers are good for warming up. When you go to ride, if you can't ride with them in your gloves, stick them in your pocket and they'll keep you really warm!

  6. foot warmers and hand warmers : }

  7. Thank goodness I live where it's warm in the winter now. But I remember many cold days and nights riding up north and in the midwest. I swore by my Mountain Horse Ice Rider tall boots. They're insulated and water-proof, which makes them nice and toasty when you have to wade through the snow to pull your horse from the paddock. I used to ride in regular crochet-backed or leather gloves, but after riding I'd put my hands into regular, insulated gloves I got at a local mountain climbing supply store. I have friends who swore by hand warmers, too. Winter riding breeches with polartec and insulated jackets also help keep the cold at bay.

  8. Our barn and indoor arena isn't heated, but I always bring those hand and foot warmers that you shake.

I also bought fleece lied winter riding pants to use from poneepantz.com

My boots.. I don't have them here, but they almost look like hiking boots (yes they are riding boots) but they have a thick liner inside, I wear them all year round and they are comfy too.

  9. i ride western i take it you ride english

umm my boots are justins and i wear thermo underware and a thermo top then i wear a big heavy jacket and my jeans...i dont wear gloves cant do anything with them on......it snows were i live and thermo keeps me warm.

  10. I live through the Northern Wisconsin Winters!

When Its winter and above 20 degrees F I ware just a pair of jeans long sleeved shirt a hooded sweatshirt and my winter jacket a warm hat and thick gloves. My fingers, toes and nose were still really cold though. Anything below 20ish is to cold to ride for me... Or if there is ice on the ground then its to slippery.

In Summer the highs are in the 80s-90s

In the winter it gets about -15 and that's without the wind gusts!

  11. If you have under armour, it warms you well.  Wear long, thick socks.  Also, try to get a hold of some hand warmers and put them in your riding gloves and boots.

  12. this might help:

what i do is i got some long under armour pants:  http://www.underarmour.com/shop/womens/a...

(they should fit close to your body) and i wear them under my breaches/pants and i then get some zocks:  http://www.doversaddlery.com/product.asp...  (or lond socks and wear them in front of my breaches/pants or behind them and put on my boots.

that keeps my legs and feet warm pretty warm

if you toes get really cold though you can always wear zocks and long socks

fro my top i wear a cami or two a long sleeve shirt with a fleece jacket or a winter vest like this

    http://www.abercrombie.com/webapp/wcs/st...

any fleece like this is really warm

and jackets like this are wonderful: http://www.abercrombie.com/webapp/wcs/st...

you DON'T have to pay that much but you get the idea

for my hands i worn regular cheap gloves under my riding gloves: http://www.doversaddlery.com/ssg-gripper...

usally that keeps me warm and trust me it gets cold up where i live

    hope i helped

  13. Yep, the hand and foot warmers are great. They come in little packages and when you open them, you shake and squish them to make them get warm. Careful with the ones for your toes. They can get really hot if you don't have enough fabric between them and your foot/toes. They even have warmers to fit in your boot like the inside liner of your boot. You can usually find them at hardware stores and sporting good stores.

Also, wool socks and fleece socks are good. They make insulated boots to ride in also.

  14. When ever I ride in the winter I bundle up. I'll wear long johns (both top and bottom), a long sleeve shirt, hoodie and a jacket. I'll wear heavy jeans.

I wear 2 pairs of socks, usually soccer socks and then a pair of normal socks. Since my parents are hikers, I'll steal their socks. I'll wear thick winter gloves when I'm riding experienced horses. But for the younger horses, I won't ride with gloves and but I'll stop the horse and rub my hands in my jacket. You can buy a product called hand toaster. Which you can stick in your glove or boots and they'll warm up in 5 minutes and keep warm for a couple of hours. They're only $5 its pretty cheap

  15. I knew living through Minnesota winters would help me (in this case you) some day!  All my stuff is English, and I don't ride western, so I can't help there...Sorry!

Let's start at the top... I have an ear band (not a headband) that is made to wear under a helmet, to keep my ears warm...I guess it's self explanatory, but I'm a thorough person!

I wear many layers, so if you get warm when riding, you can peel them off.  I wear a regular long sleeved shirt, a fleece turtleneck, a sweatshirt, a down/quilted vest, and a Mountain horse winter riding jacket.

On bottom, I wear under armor, and Tuff Rider Polar tec winter full seat breeches... I just got them for the past winter and absolutely LOVE THEM!!!  I can't believe I didn't get them sooner!

I have Ariat all leather thinsulate line paddock boots, and wear regular half chaps... I tried tall winter boots for years, but never found one that I liked or that kept me as warm as my paddock boots.

As for gloves, I wear thinsulate lined riding gloves with a thin silk liner.  I am not sure what brand they are, sorry!

    Hope this helps..sorry it's long!

  16. There is a product called Toastie toes .  It has an adhesive back and you paste them to the bottom of your socks at the toes.  they work great.  keeps you feet warm for about 4 hours.  You can buy them at sporting goods stores .  I bought mine online from L L Bean.  they had a different name than toastie toes but they worked just as well
