ok, so i have a 3 y/o Oldenburg Warmblood (she just turned 3 about a month and a half ago), and i was wondering what are some good national shows i could take her to? once i start going to shows with her, we havent had her for THAT long, and she is just at the point now where we can start to take her to shows. and to start off we are going to keep it at just open fun shows, my county fair, and little shows like that. but when i want to start taking her to bigger shows, what are some good shows that i could take her to? i wasnt even talking in the super near future at all, but maybe in a year or two or maybe even 3 when ive been riding her for a while. ( i have gotten on her and had my mom just lead me around, but not anything too official, we are wanting to take it slow with her )

and i know i could ask my trainer, she goes all over the US to shows, but she is actually currently at a show, and i dont want to bother her just for that!

  1. i would suggest no shows until she is at least 5 cuz warmbloods dont fully mature until they are 6-7 yrs old so most ppl break them at 4ish i think you should take your time with her and not show for a few more years....

  2. Well, if you want to take it slow i would say that you should start at the things around your area and an state. To really get the hang of things you know. Actually it would be a better idea to talk to your trainer considering she is your trainer she will know you guys better and what will probably be best. Also might have some great tips to offer and good places to go. Sry. I just think that would be the best way to go. Good luck!

  3. Any show that is reconized through the USEF is considered a national show. These shows can be just shows held at a farm, however, they are considered to be national shows and if say you ride dressage and are interested in qualifying for a bronze medal, then you can compete at a reconized show and the scores you recieve at those shows can be counted towards the bronze medal award. You can contact the local show organization in your area and find out what reconized shows are available. And she ins't that young. She might actually benefit from this because she will get used to the busy show environment early on in life and then nothing will scare her when she gets older! I have a feeling that alot of people believe that riding a horse that's three will ruin it but in reality it won't, unless the rider is a poor rider and will not give the young horse the basics it needs.

  4. Yall started really early on her. If she just turned 3 and you are already at the point where you are ready to show (no matter how small) you have been on her way to early. Warmbloods are notoriously slow developers anyway. I hope her legs last long enough to carry her to the 'good national shows' for her sake not yours.

You might want to wait untill she poves herself before you get excited about big shows. Warmbloods are good horses but there are always a few that fall to the side. She may never be good enough (if she lasts at all).
