Warne backtracks his Twitter comments by a swapping SMS with Ponting
Legendary spinner Shane Warne has cleared up the expected rift with Australian skipper Ricky Ponting after he slated Ponting’s field placements for right-arm off-spinner Nathan Hauritz against Indian line-up on the final day of the Bangalore Test – a match
won by India by seven wickets. On Wednesday, the final day of the second Test, Hauritz was struck for 22 runs from his opening two overs.
Warne backed up struggling Hauritz angrily criticizing the tactics of Australian skipper yesterday via a short blast on a micro-blogging internet site Twitter which said: "How the h**l can hauritz bowl to this field??" Warne tweeted. "Feeling for hauritz
, terrible!! What are these tactics? Sorry Ricky but what are you doing."
Later on, the lashed skipper opined that the field was placed on the demand of the off spinner. Ponting explained that Nathan himself had requested for the very fielder that had upset Shane Warne. After Ponting’s explanation, Warne, on Thursday, said that
the twitter post was merely a response to the questions of fans and not a criticism upon Ponting’s capabilities. Warne revealed that he had made up with the Australian captain after the game was concluded.
"Me and Punter swapped a few SMSs last night," Warne told a sports channel of Australia. "We're mates, we're going to disagree a few times, it doesn't mean suddenly we hate each other and things like that."
Despite Australia’s humiliating 2-0 white wash at the hands of Men in Blue, Warne still feels that the Kangaroos could regain the Ashes 2010. The fight for this summer’s Ashes title begins in Brisbane on 25th of November. Warne further added that
the series defeat against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 should not have any impact on Australia’s preparation for Ashes. He said that Indian tracks are quite tough to play and the spinners get smashed all over the turf.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s 2-0 whitewash against India has dropped them behind Ashes rivals England into fifth place on the Reliance Mobile ICC Test Championship table. But Warne had not changed his opinion that Australian side would be favourites at home while taking
England in Ashes.
"Australia are always tough to beat at home. They're a pretty proud team. We've always been like that over the last 20 odd years that I've been playing. I think we'll give the Poms a run for their money out here."
