Warne wants to see Wade replacing Haddin, if the latter fails to score at Adelaide - Cricket News Update
The legendary spin bowler of Australia, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BJ-Haddin-c1170 with back up wicketkeeper Mathew Wade, if the former fails to perform in the fourth and final Test against India starting at
the Adelaide Oval on January 24, 2012.
Haddin, the 34-year-old wicketkeeper batsman from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823, has failed to impress with the bat in the past six innings. Besides, he looked out of sorts with the gloves as well and has been under fire as former cricketers and pundits are question his
role on the side.
The Australian spin wizard touted Wade as a fit successor of Haddin in all formats of the game, and urged the incumbent wicketkeeper to find form in Adelaide if he wants to retain his place in the national squad.
"I think he's definitely the next keeper after Brad Haddin, whenever Brad Haddin's time is up. Hopefully he (Haddin) makes a big hundred in Adelaide and he's fine, he can play for another fair bit of time,” Shane Warne was quoted as saying by a leading Australian
daily.
“But if things panned out and the selectors decided to go another way then http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Wade-c1933 would 100 per cent do a great job in all forms of the game and he's ready to go," the Victorian leg spin prodigy added further.
The under fire wicketkeeper has also been appointed as vice captain of Australia in the ongoing Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, to be played in Canberra on February 3, 2012.
Warne, the 42-year-old leg spinner from Victoria who claimed 708 wickets from 145 Test appearances, also asked Australian selectors to consider Mathew Wade for a baggy green in the near future.
He further added that Haddin is a wonderful player who can carry on for a fair bit of time, however he insisted that to retain his place the out of form gloveman should find some form in Adelaide.
"If you're not doing your job well, get someone else to do it. With Brad Haddin, I think he's doing a good job and hopefully he can find some form because he's a wonderful player," said Warne.
So far, Wade has kept wickets for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in two T20 Internationals; however his record in first class and List A cricket is quite impressive, where the Tasmanian wicketkeeper averages 40.16 and 42.25 respectively.
