Question:

Warning, virus downloader on Yahoo Groups!?

Several times in the last few days, there have been attempted viral intrusions on my system while reading messages in Yahoo Groups, or even just when I access Groups. A pop-up window appears advertising an anti-spyware program, and any mouse click or key stroke will trigger an attempt to download a Trojan. The only way to stop it AFAIK is to use Ctrl-Alt-Del to open Task Manager and shut down the browser, and make sure you have your anti-virus program up to date!

My Norton Antivirus has been doing its job, but for safety's sake I can no longer use Yahoo Groups, which is a BIG disappointment because I keep contact with many friends that way. I hope Yahoo can deal with this problem quickly.

  1. it's sounds like you need a pop up blocker. you probably got a ad ware from where ever that works with the browser. has nothing to do with yahoo

  2. use AVG

you can also shut dow your browser by putting your mouse on the bottom of your task bar and rigth click close

  3. thanks for the warning!

  4. DONT USE NORTON!! USE KASPERSKY ANTIVIRUS!! it is renowned for its trojan detection rates!! If all else fails, delete your computer and reinstall... although there is a chance the virus may get into your boot sector and hack.
