Question:

Warning given to staff who take to many medical leave. Right or Wrong?

14 days of medical leave are given to each staff per year. I feel that it is wrong to issue warning (be it verbal or written) to staff when they take "too many" days (14 or less) of medical leave.

*Management definition of "too many".

  1. In Ca, As long as you under the care of a doctor medical leave can be extended beyond company policy

  2. it depends on individual company practices. In my current organisation, there is panel of doctors. if you are not feeling well, you are encourage to see the doctors whose name is inside the panel of doctors and your medical leave is definitely being recognised even we used up all 14 days of medical leave.

I feel that as long as the doctor had given us the medical leave, it had confirm that we are not feeling well at the point we go for the consultation. The management have no right to penalised us unless they have evidence to prove that we took medical leave for our own benefits.
