Warrant Question?

I have warrant in a county that is 60 miles from where I live. If I get picked up on the warrant will the county that I live in let me post bail instead of being transported to the other county? The warrant is only for some unpaid court fines, and the bail is $250.00 for a misdemeanor.Last week a county process server dropped a card at my door that said please call. I called and they said that they had to serve me papers for something unrelated.(A credit card debt) I anticipate that they will run my name and when they serve me I will be arrested. I have bail money.

  1. Yes - in my county that would be possible - unless it was a must process situation - which usually occurs on original warrants where you have not been arrested.

you should be able to post in the county your in and bond out with a new court date.

  2. 60 miles....$250, my department wouldn't pick you up.

However, the warrant is probably small fries in the long run. If the warrant stems from traffic charges, I'd be more worried about the state suspending my license over it.

Either way, best to take care of it. You don't want this hanging over your head.

  3. If you have the bail money, you may want to go call the courhouse directly, and see if you can mail a money order.

If you are served the warrant, they will probably add service fees.

  4. my friend was in the same situation he had to wait in jail untill the county would contact  the county who issued the warrant  and ask them if they wanted to pick him up or post the monety for the fine as bail then they let him pay the fine and put up extra for bail.
