Warren Gatland opts Jones for prop – Six Nations update
Warren Gatland, the Welsh boss has called on the prop, Adam Jones to take his boots on, as he will be coming on for some action after Craig Mitchell was sidelined from the upcoming clash against France in RBS Six Nations.
Craig Mitchell, the tight head picked an injury against Ireland and got his shoulder dislocated. Mitchell had to suffer from the blow just eleven minutes into the game. Wales won the match by 19-13 against Ireland after a controversial injury.
Adam Rhys Jones is an international rugby union player for Wales and also plays in Magners league for Ospreys. His regular and desired position is tight head prop, where he has been giving consistent performances for the club. The 31year old Welsh has been
representing Wales in under-23 team and made his debut for the elite squad in 2003. Considering his performances, he was included in the crucial World Cup squad. Though, his first international try was against Scotland in 2004. Since then he is a regular player
for Wales national rugby union team.
The 6 ft 5in aggressive player is also known as Bomber and Hair Bears in his club and national side. He was few of the players who got selected for British and Irish Lions. His international record is of 66 caps and 10 points, whereas his club record states
a total of 86 caps and ten points.
Gatland believes he was currently the best option for the position, considering the amount of experience and potential. Jones suffered through an elbow injury in Ospreys match, but has recovered now and is being called on alongside Pau James, who gave an
impressive performance in last match after coming off the bench.
Taking in view Mitchell’s superb performance this season, Gatland expects Jones to giiv e out the same or better to cement his position as the preferred tight head prop.  Jones believes that he is in tip top condition and will give his best to prove his
standing as a senior and experienced player.
Gatland said, “It looks like he’s dislocated a shoulder so I don’t know how long it’s going to be playing. Adam Jones is the right option for now.”
