Warren Gatland unsatisfied with Wales International teams relationship with Ospreys – Rugby news
Warren Gatland, the Wales coach and the mastermind behind the whole new midfield setup, spoke from the heart when he expressed his distress with the weak mechanism and relationship that is currently persisting between the national team and the Ospreys.
Gatland has always been surrounded by controversial news and has been centre of the cold war related to Wales’s rugby. He considers the relationship with Ospreys as the worst and the most disappointing thing in his career so far. Even though, it’s known
that Ospreys offered a solid share to Gatland for the Welsh squad during previous seasons.
Gatland expressed, “It is the most disappointing thing since I've been at Wales, you'd like to think that us and the Ospreys should have a really, really close relationship.”
He looked pretty annoyed and disappointed by the way things were happening and while talking to the international media he added, “And be working together, helping each other out and assisting each other at every opportunity. The unfortunate thing is, it
just hasn't bonded or blended in any way that I would've like it.”
Gatland admitted that the relations of Wales’s rugby management with Scarlets, Newport Dragons and Cardiff Blues have been strong and positive. On the other hand he informed reporters that relations with Ospreys have been in danger for no known reason. Gatland
was also unsure about the future of this relationship, as no cooperation has been shown from both sides regarding player policies.
According to Wales, the doors are still wide open for negotiations and talks to resolve issues and shorten distances. The Welsh coach believes he has a positive approach towards the issue and wants the clashes and misunderstanding finish between the entities,
so players, team and the clubs all can benefit from it. He added that the blame game should stop.
The major clash that occurs between Ospreys and Wales elite squad management is when it comes to player preparation and style of play. Even though, the club has former WRU fitness coach Scott Johnson and Andrew h**e as conditioning coach there is a notable
difference in the approach of both sides.
This has given rise to a conflict and has increased the tension between Gatland’s side and three times Magners’ League winner’s management.
Roger Blyth was the one to give statement s from Ospreys side. The chief for the club said, “I'm rather dumbfounded by Warren's comments. I've always thought we had a pretty strong relationship with the union. The contribution we have made over the years
has been second to none, so his comments are rather mystifying.”
This statement has raised more questions and with another of Gatland’s controversial statements, it is a dream come true for the rugby media.
