Warren Marston announces retirement from race riding – Horse Racing news
Famous horse rider, Warren Marston has recently revealed that he would not be taking part in any horse racing events in the future.
The news comes as a surprise and brings with it disappointment as well. It is a surprise because Marston was scheduled to go out onto the racetracks in order to run a race at Ffos Las today but what came out in the open was the announcement of his retirement
from race riding. It is something to be disappointed about because it translates into going behind the scenes of one of the greatest horse riders the world of horseracing has seen in these times.
Marston was singled out for his skill and prowess at horse riding from numerous other important names at the Lesters. He got the honour of being given a special recognition award last week.
According to the agent of Marston, Chris Broad, it was the right time to take the decision and the right thing to do. The agent feels that after having ridden several races in his career, with more than 700 of them bagging for a win, Marston has had all
the glory that any horse rider could wish for.
There are a lot of well run races to the credit of Marston and he has ridden quite a few top quality horses. Marston had the pleasure of taking a seat on two of the winners of the Cheltenham Festival in the year 1996. These horses on which Marston sat were
Indefense and Nahthen Lad. Marston rode out on Indefense at the Supreme Novice whereas it was in the Sun Alliance Chase that Marston rode Nahthen Lad.
Marston made the following comments while speaking about his unexpected announcement about retirement, “I've decided to retire. I was supposed to ride today but I'm not now. I woke up this morning and it just felt like the right thing to do. I suppose the
timing is nice given the award the other night. I've never been one to dwell on things, it's not something I've been thinking of or planned. I just woke up this morning and thought the time was right.”
