Warrington Wolves’ Adrian Morley uncertain about his return to the side – Rugby League news
English Rugby League club, Warrington Wolves, also known as ‘The Wire’, will be without the services of their captain and second row forward, Adrian Morley. The injured player, who is currently undergoing rehabilitation following his head injury earlier
in the season, has avoided giving a specific date or time-frame for his return to the side.
Morley provided that updates on his injury on Monday, July 25. He said, “There's no time frame on it. It could be a couple of weeks; it could be a bit longer. Fingers crossed I could be back sooner rather than later.” Earlier in the 2011 Engage Super League
season, Morley sustained an injury to his head, during his side’s 35 – 28 win over their rivals, St Helens.
Commenting further on his injury, Morley confirmed that the head concussion had lead to double vision which has created all sorts of problems for him. Morley termed the club’s decision to not play him, as a “sensible decision.”
Warrington Wolves are the defending champions of the 2011 Carnegie Challenge Cup. However, last weekend saw Wigan Warriors handing over a comprehensive 44 – 24 defeat to Wolves.
The 34-year-old Morley started his professional rugby league career with Leeds Rhinos in 1994. During his six-season stay at the club, he played 149 games for the Rhinos and scored 25 tries. In 2001, he joined the Sydney Roosters, where he remained until
the end of the 2005 season.
Salford born Morley played 113 games for Roosters and scored 28 points. In the start of the 2006 Super League season, he signed with the Wolves and has helped his side lift their 2010 Challenge Cup title.
Morley has expressed his confidence that his side will leave the weekend’s defeat behind them and concentrate on their remaining matches of the 2011 Super League season. Wolves currently are placed second in the Super League table with 34 points, coming
from their 17 wins of 22 matches they have played in the season so far.
Morley added, “We've been doing well in the league, that's all we've got to play for now, so we're going to put all our eggs in that basket.”
