yes jon the angels fan you are missing something. the 1st round pick is protected like fort knox. this is a great deal for both teams. as a warriors fan im excited to see williams. he was really good at UConn, i remember wanting him in the 06 draft for the warriors because he was a great passer especially on the fast break to rudy g*y. marcus didnt fit in the nets' system and played pretty well when he was the starter. the best part is, if this experiment doesnt work out, hey he only makes 1.3 mill or so. so no big deal. i wasnt convinced monta could play the 1 all game long, so this was a nice move. and the 1st round pick is 3 years from now. it is a 2011 pick and it is lottery protected, then top 10 protected in 2012, and then it becomes 2 2nd rounders after. so the warriors arent giving up a top 10 pick.

both teams do well. nets get more picks to rebuild. the warriors get a PG with tremendous upside. nelson is a genius and is a great players coach. he will use williams' strengths to his advantages. people have to remember that there was no FA who could replace baron. there was no star pg FA. and you couldnt trade for one either. hinrich will not replace baron. felton will not replace baron. nobody could. this was the next best move.

This is the best thing the Warriors can do after they loss Barron Davis. Marcus Williams is a young and talented PG. He got a good future in front of him with the Warriors. Monta Ellis is not a true PG and Marcus Williams is and he's the future PG for the Warriors. This kid got alot of talents when i saw him play for the Uconn Huskies. I say it's a good trade for the Warriors because they got a future PG in Marcus Williams.

Not really, they should pursue some good players and not take risks trading for that guy.

Nets got a good deal getting 1st round pick and warriors wont mack playoffs and nets so nets get 2 lottery picks...

um lets think baron davis or marcus williams, they should have never let him go if he stayed there and they got elton brand they would be so much better, and monta elis one of the up coming all-stars in the nba. but marcus will give some yonger personal

im not a warriors fan BUT i think the warriors were ripped off. when the nets got dooling from orlando, marcus williams was odd-man out at the guard position. so the nets were not going to use williams very much. and the warriors gave the nets a conditional 1st-rounder for a second backup. tell me if im missing something here.
