South Africa’s Western Warriors continue to impress in the Champions League cricket tournament taking place in their country as they trounce the hapless Kiwi outfit Central Districts in another one sided match in the tournament.
The winners were indebted to a magnificent opening partnership between captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jacobs-c65213 and South African test batsman Ashwell Prince for their comfortable win. They two added a staggering 147 runs in less that 16 overs after their opponents had set them a
stiff target of 176 runs to win in the allotted 20 overs in the match played at Port Elizabeth.
Batting first the Central Districts got off to a blazing start, captain Jamie How and Patton added 64 runs for the second wicket in only 6 overs after opening batsman Ingram had fallen for a duck in the first over of the match to South African ODI bowler
Tsetsobe.
Patton was dismissed by former South African all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nicky-Boje-c2105, for 24 runs his runs were made off 37 balls and included 5 hits to the fence.
How carried on at one end as the Kiwis lost another wicket, this time it was former Test batsman, Matthew Sinclair, who is best known for an outstanding start to his Test career against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 many years ago.
The right hander looked scratchy in his 6-run knock that came off 9 balls, he was dismissed by the newly appointed South African T20 captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Johan-Botha-c67173.
The two quick wickets knocked Central Districts back as from a very promising position they were forced to re-group, they were placed at 75/3 when the 10th over ended.
In the last ten overs of the innings they added an even 100 without losing any wicket as How and KN Barnett flayed the hosts around the park with some vintage stroke play, Barnett was an ideal foil to his captain playing attacking shots to reach a well deserved
half century.
Barnett faced only 34 balls in his unbeaten 53 run knock that included 5 fours and 3 sixes, How also remained unbeaten for 88 runs, the right hander was in aggressive mood through out his knock striking 12 fours and 3 sixes in his 57 minute stay at the wicket.
For the Warriors Boje, Botha and Tsetsobe claimed a scalp each, in their quest for 176 runs the Warriors laid one of the best foundations at the top of the innings in the tournament.
Captain Jacobs who had played a leading role in his team’s win over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844 once again demonstrated that he was good enough to play at this level and deliver consistently.
Jacobs found a great ally in Ashwell Prince the two players’ added 147 runs for the opening wicket partnership. They were on the attack from the outset scoring big runs to put the opposition under pressure, Jacobs scored 74 runs his innings included 5 fours
and 6 sixes, he faced a mere 47 balls in his brutal assault.
On the other hand his partner Prince scored 64 runs of 50 balls he smacked 2 sixes and 4 fours in his knock.
The Warriors stuttered for a little while when both openers fell in quick succession followed by the demise of two more batsmen.
In between one drop batsman Ingram fell for 1 run only, Thyssen than eased the nerves striking two sixes and one four before falling for 18 runs made off only 9 balls.
The win was sealed when the veteran wicket-keeper Mark Boucher clouted a six on the first ball of the final over.
Bracewell and Milne claimed a scalp each for Central District while Warriors skipper Jacobs won the man of the match for his special effort with the bat.
