Warriors look for second win: Champions League T20, Warriors v Victoria

The Match

Warriors play Victoria in the sixth game of the Champions League T20, 2010. The match will be played at Port Elizabeth. Warriors will go into the game after having won their first match of the tournament when they beat Wayamba rather easily, while this is the first game for the Victorian side.

So far in the Champions League T20 this year, it has been seen that batting in the initial overs is a bit of a hassle, but once the new ball is seen off, life does become easier. That is exactly what both the teams would be saying to themselves, given the kind of strong bowling attacks that the oppositions have.

The Pitch:
Port Elizabeth had hosted the Warriors v Wayamba game on the second day of the competition, and it was a good cricket wicket. The track had bounce for the faster bowlers, and it assisted the Sri Lankan spinning duo of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajantha-c42419 Mendis and Rangana Herath enough to suggest that quality spinners could have their say as well.
And the manner in which Mark Boucher batted in the end, it looked like batsmen just needed to get their eye in for the track to become easier for them.

http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Victoria-c859:
Victoria will be led by David Hussey in the absence of their regular leader, Cameron White. White is currently playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. His absence could be a blow, something that can be gauged from the fact that the Victorian side had won four of the five KFC Big Bash T20 tournaments back in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 under White’s captaincy.

However, the side would have moved on from that blow. Hussey is not only a good batsman, but can roll his arm over as well, which adds another dimension to the cricketer. His captaincy skills will be tested, but in a T20 format, it does boil down more to batting and bowling skills than captaincy.

Dirk Nannes could enjoy the conditions a lot as he will look to extract the bounce from the track, while the likes of Clint McKay and Peter Siddle will give him company.

The Playing Eleven:

Hussey, Hodge, Quiney, Carters, Maxwell, McDonald, Hastings, Nannes, McKay, McGain, Siddle

Players to watch out for:

The all-round strength of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-McDonald-c1042 will make him the one to look out for.

Warriors:

The Warriors will understand that a win here will give them two wins out of two games and brighten their chances of making it through to the semi-finals. They had a good game against Wayamba where they batted, bowled and fielded superbly to win it for the side.

What they will need is repeat the performance but against a side which looks far superior than the Sri Lankan side did; at least on paper. The one aspect of their game that the Warriors need to be careful of is to give away good starts.

The Playing Eleven:
Ingram, Prince, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jacobs-c65213, Kreusch, Boucher, Ntini, Tsotsobe, Thyssen, Theron, Boje, Botha

Players to watch out for:
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Makhaya-Ntini-c73953 did not have a great first match, but will look to bounce back from that.
