Warriors losing their Star Winger Vatuvei, in National Rugby
Warriors were relieved to find out through a CT scan on Monday that their star winger Manu Vatuvei has no fracture in his left leg.  Vatuvei who was returning from a hamstring injury, faced trouble in his left leg after he was injured by a group tackle 14 minutes into Saturday’s National Rugby League match against Queensland. This resulted in the Warriors winning by 24-12. Manu went through a CT scan on Monday afternoon in order to check whether his leg is fractured or not. The doctors after examining declared that the scan shows no result of any fracture in his left leg.
“It’s a good news for all of us so far but if the leg is not settled later this week then we may again look at having an MRI scan” said club doctor John Mayhew
Vatuvei who had already missed several games in the 2008 season after facing a spiral fracture in his left fibula looks as if he will be out of the game for some time until he fully recovers to be back on the team. While the Warriors may miss Vatuvei in several games, they need to welcome Simon Mannering back for their home game against the Rabbitohs on Sunday.
Mannering former captain of the Warriors, who missed several games due to a hamstring injury he faced, was formerly named to play for North Queensland. However, he later pulled out because he was not fully recovered and didn’t believe to be in perfect shape for the match. Warriors coach Ivan Cleary rated Mannering as an essential player to lead the team against Rabbitohs on Sunday and also against the South Sydney. He agreed that Mannering is on target to take his position once again in the team and the team needs him at the moment.
Mannering later said, “He is close to 100 percent fit and can lead the team without any hurdle at the crucial game yet to come.” “I have trained myself throughout the week even in the last game I planned to play but at the last moment wasn’t quite there, so I took a step back and I know think it was best to miss one game and then come ready for the next game and others to come.” Mannering, 23 had been away from the game for seven weeks due to a hamstring injury which he suffered in January and it forced him out of disputation for the Warrior’s three pre-season trials and their opening round defeat by Gold Coast.
He recently made his debut as club skipper in the game against Cronulla and led the Warriors to victory. That was the last full game he played. In the next game in which he led his team against Brisbane, he played only for the first half.  He thumped the ground after an injury flashed up as he was going to score. After much anguishing and pain, he left the field and couldn’t play another game.
“It was an awkward thing which I did on the play. I was familiar with the consequences and it’s the last thing I ever want to do again,” said Simon Mannering. “It’s very frustrating to watch the team perform while you wait outside due to an injury.”
