Warwick Avenue likely to win Times Maiden
The A. P. O’Brien-trained bay colt, Warwick Avenue, is likely to break his maiden by winning The Irish Times Maiden at Curragh racecourse on Friday, June 29. The action will begin at 8:30 (GMT).
It is for the second time in his 3-race career that the three-year-old novice runner is going to show his guts on the 1 mile and 2 furlongs soft track of Curragh. He first ran there in Kildare Village China Race Day Maiden on June 10, 2012, finishing 5 against
9 rivals.
The talented son of Montjeu out of Dance Parade moved ahead to run in the Wednesday Evening Racing At Fairyhouse Maiden with 13-8 favourite tag and finished as a runner-up. That race over 1 mile and 4 furlongs took place at Fairyhouse on June 13.
The Mrs John Magnier-owned sprinter started his career on October 5, 2011 and finished 15th in his maiden outing.
With three goings, the brilliant colt has excellently proved his class, making the punters realise that he can trigger any big upset anywhere.
At the moment, Warwick Avenue is carrying a lot of fighting spirit and fervency that will help him break his maiden in today’s marathon. He has up to 80 percent chances to finish first.
On his way towards the boundary strap, Warwick Avenue will face some challenges from Beyond Berlin and Brinestine.
Beyond Berlin has just one race on his portfolio. The Mrs John Harrington-trained bay gelding debuted in Leopardstown Maiden on June 8, 2012. Over 1 mile and 4 furlongs, the rookie runner grabbed third position against 6 competitors.
It is expected that the son of Big Bad Bob out of Soviet Belle will deliver fairly mature performance in the Times Maiden, giving tough time to Warwick Avenue.
On the other hand, Brinestine started his career on October 15, 2011. The Joseph G. Murphy-trained and owned bay gelding finished 9th against a dozen of contestants in his maiden outing at Cork track on October 15, 2011.
He went on to notch up third spot against 10 runners in another race at the same venue on June 17, 2012. Now, he is keen to break his maiden.
Thus, there is going to be a rip-roaring battle at Curragh. Let us see who manages to thrive. Good luck to all.
