Warwickshire v Kent - Clydesdale Bank 40 (Group C) – Match Update – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kent-c802 secure 6-wicket victory
Led by Darren http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stevens-c91368, Kent’s bowling attack succeeded in restricting Warwickshire to a meagre double-digit team total, which their batsmen then went on to chase with ease, securing a 6-wicket victory during their Clydesdale Bank 40 match, played at Edgbaston
in Birmingham on August 13.
After Kent won the toss and elected to field first, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mark-Davies-c74586 (8-2-14-2) followed
up with the wicket of skipper Jim Troughton (1) in the 5th over, and the demolition of the top order was complete.
Wicketkeeper batsman Tim Ambrose (11) was dismissed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JS-Patel-c1747 (5), and Keith
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120.
Player of the Match Stevens (7.4-1-25-4) mopped up the lower order, dismissing Javid and Barker before taking down Best and Chris Wright (2), to cut Warwickshire off at a meagre 92 by the end of 31 overs.
Kent hardly exerted themselves in the chase, reaching 93 by 21 overs, at the expense of just 4 wickets. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robert-Key-c2349 (20) opened the innings for their side, and set up a partnership of 26 runs, which came to an end in the 5th
over, with the dismissal of Billings at the hands of Wright (8-0-36-1).
Key powered on with Sam Northeast (13), and the two set up a 12-run stand which got their side up to 38 by the 10th over. Their partnership was broken up by Barker (8-1-26-1), who sent the skipper packing lbw.
Warwickshire’s Darren Maddy (4.2-0-30-2) claimed the next two wickets, but his efforts were not enough to reign in the Kent batsmen. Stevens was bowled on 7, and Northeast followed him to the pavilion, sent packing, lbw, in the 15th over.
From there onwards, Azhar Mahmood (20*) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alexander-James-Blake-c43208 (18*) took over, setting up an unbeaten 39-run partnership which got their team over the finish line, with 6 wickets and 118 deliveries still remaining – a victory which brings them level with Warwickshire
on the points table for Group C.
