Warwickshire v Northamptonshire - Friends Life T20 – Midlands/Wales/West Group - Northamptonshire bolster 149 – Live Score and Update
Northamptonshire 149/4 (20/20 ov) - Northamptonshire won the toss and chose to bat
In the only Friends Life T20 match of the day, Northamptonshire after winning the toss elected to bat first and amassed a decent tally of 149 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs in a game that was played at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on Tuesday, June 19, 2012.
The side got off to a commendable start as openers RI Newton and KJ Coetzer piled 21 runs together, before Warwickshire striker CR Woakes crashed the party by grabbing the wicket of Coetzer, who faltered after scoring 11 runs.
Newton was then joined by wicketkeeper, NJ O'Brien, as the two batsmen kept the scoreboard ticking in order to maintain pressure on the fielding side.
Finally with 54 runs on the board, the side suffered the demise of their second wicket when Newton met his doom after bolstering a knock of 31 runs off 22 deliveries.
This was a big blow for the batting side as the opener was looking well set to steer the team towards a gigantic total.
However, the demise of Newton did not deter the batsmen as O'Brien alongside CL White led a fierce batting onslaught against almost every bowler who came to bowl.
After taking the team to a total of 116 runs, O'Brien had his stumps shattered by KHD Barker after scoring an innings of 38 runs off 43 deliveries.
This brought skipper, AG Wakely in the middle and keeping the situation of the match in front of him, he knew that they needed to halt the fall of batsmen in order to end the innings with a decent total to defend.
However, the partnership was short-lived as with 119 runs, the skipper met his demise after bolstering a knock of just two runs.
DJ Willey was next in, but there were not enough overs left for him to do much as the side ended their innings just one run short of a 150 mark. White was the top batsman from his side with an unbeaten knock of 60 runs to his name.
