http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867: County Championship Division One – Yorkshire’s Second Innings
Yorkshire conceded a first innings lead of 185 runs against Warwickshire in a match of the County Championship Division One at the Headingley, Leeds in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 on Thursday, August 25, 2011.
The hosts were under immense pressure and had to bat extremely well in order to set a challenging total for the opposition. The team failed to cope up with the pressure though, getting all out for 127 runs in their second innings.
None of the Yorkshire players managed to make a solid impression and the highest score came from lower-order batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rich-Pyrah-c2311, who collected 28 runs.
The pitch was still very good for the batsmen, but a few cracks had opened up, which offered some assistance to the bowlers. However, conditions were not unplayable, but the batting side was unable to cop up with the immense pressure.
The hosts’ skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jacques-Rudolph-c1619 walked out in the middle to open the innings alongside Joe Sayers. Both batsmen had a lot of responsibility on their shoulders and needed to provide a solid start to their side.
However, Rudolph was unable to live up to the expectations of his side, as he was dismissed in the very first over of the innings without scoring a single run.
First-drop http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Ballance-c1465. Both failed to trouble the scorers, leaving their side in deep trouble at 25/4.
Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gerard-Brophy-c1482 got off to a start, but was unable to make most of it. He ended up with 14 runs in his short outing, striking three boundaries. Just three balls later, Sayers was also sent back to the pavilion after contributing 25 runs
to the total.
Rich Pyrah came out in an aggressive mood, but did not last long in the middle. He scored 28 runs off 17 deliveries with the help of six boundaries before finally getting caught in an attempt to clear the boundary.
Next to go was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RJ-Sidebottom-c2333, who got out for a duck, as Yorkshire were nine down for 91 runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steven-Patterson-c2585 was the last wicket to fall after adding 11 runs to the total.
Warwickshire won the match by an innings and 58 runs and their bowlers did a fabulous job. Chris Wright picked up five wickets in the innings whereas http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Keith-Henderson-Barker-c70622 finished with a four-wicket haul.
