  1. Yeah he got fired in 2001 so that Eddie O'Sullivan could take over.  He inherited an average team and had a crappy record to start off with but the 2001 season was his best by far.  I thought he finally had Ireland heading in the right direction but I guess the IRFU didn't see it that way!

Oh well, he came home and took Waikato to a national title.

  2. EOS has come close to being sacked on more than one occasion

with the players ireland have they should be reaching the 1/4 finals at least if not semis

this is the best ireland collection of players...i hesitate to say team.... in years

everyone in the ireland setup should be thoroughly embarrassed by whats happened

    SACK EOS

  3. New Zealand coaches are the best but hardest coaches in the world. It takes a while for their coaching methods to really stamp their authority, they have alot of obstacles to get over.etc..other coaches against them, coming into new cultures and players resenting their staunch methods.

Ireland were coming right with Gatland before they got rid of him,John Kirwin have left Italy in good stead,Grizz Wyllie with Argentina,Johnstone with Fiji and John Boe with Samoa oh yeah Graeme Henry with Wales,he had revived Wales before he came back to NZ.Why break a winning formula,Some NHemisphere coaches that take over from these guys usually are more relaxed from the coaching styles of the men downunder but only  the base fittness that remains.

Its not that European players are less skilled than our boys downunder they are coached much differently than us which is a shame cause with their player base they could rule the rugby world for a long time

  4. yeah poor ol gatty. there ws some suggestions on the munster fans forums he should be given it back. he writes for the irish times. his articles are good and he isnt bitter or spiteful considering he was sacked for a lot less. i like the guy.

  5. Guess it's the same story all over again. Knocked up by the Pumas and knocked out of the WC - again!!

Some people would take some evil satisfaction over that but I really feel sorry for the Irish. You had your chances and you need to take them - otherwise this will be the story at every WC.

  6. im sorry the EOS is not the culprit the squad didnt preform anywhere anytime not one of the games was watchable there is a reason for that which must be made public

  7. yeh. good point! preeeeetty pissed i should think

  8. rugby is a game for fat blokes who cant play football
