Pantheist: a doctrine that equates God with the forces and laws of the universe

It seems like a good start, if he added that God is Good, and God also has forces beyond the laws of the universe, and God could have a personal relationship with him...

  1. Your definition of Pantheism is flawed.  It sounds more like the meaning of animism. Pantheism is the philosophy that everything is God (pan="everything" theos="God") or that the universe and nature are divine, such that if you touch the earth, you are touching God himself, and the very dust of the earth are particles of God.  Abraham did not hold that belief, instead he believed in a Creator God who called him for a very special purpose.

  2. Likely a misquoted atheist.

    Happens all the time.

  3. Sure, some "universal force" told him to hill his son.

In all likelihood Abraham is a myth.

  4. Check out the Jewish Kabbalah.  Many of the concepts remind one of eastern philosophy, but it was all derived from the Talmud (Old Testement) and Mishnah (oral tradition revealed, along with the 10 commandments, to Moses on Mt. Sini).

Rabbi Philip Burg and his wife have some good books on this subject.

  5. No he knew God created the universe.

  6. I think, Abraham was superstitious guy. Unlike of Moses, who was, almost surely, Atheist, prank psychologist and a smart politician

  7. No, God set the laws.
