strongs bible concordance simply refers to adam and eve as mankind. not as the first humans . Adam i was told is an old Aramic term for males and eve for females in general

so why do religious people mistakenly refer to adam and eve as the first human couple?

  1. why give him a name there was no one to introduce him to

  2. Well it is entirely possible that the definition of those words came from the bible itself.... having the biblical stories with the names of the first man and woman could have spawned that usage as a common term for all men or all women.  Thats sort of the problem with dead languages, its hard to tell what begat what..... story then usage, usage then story.

Personally I think that the story came first..... not because I am religious (I am not) but because it does make sense to point humanity to a common ancestor.  It makes sense scientifically, and intuitively.  If we see their are 500 people, and each of our parents had 5 kids, then one generation ago their were only 100 people..... and so on.  It is logical to trace roots back to a single (or at least a very narrow) source.

Also, the belief in a creation mythology would lend itself to a single man and woman.... rather than a starting tribe. The reason for having a creation myth is to answer unanswerable questions through stories.  The basic question in this case is "where do we come from?".  To say we come from a group of people is saying nothing, because we all know that..... we see that everyday.  We must trace it back to a single point of origin to answer the question.  Then that point is traced back to an external source (aka God) to alleviate further unanswerable questions.

Frankly, if evolution was known (or even suspected) before the bible was written it would have been included in the story.  The truth is that the ancient people had no idea (they can hardly be faulted) that one animal can become another type of animal altogether given enough time and environmental pressures.  It isn't readily apparent, though when explained it is obviously true.

  3. Adam, in the Hebrew means Man, as in 'human.' Eve (Havvah) means 'Life' or 'life-giver.'

Adam and Eve are considered to be the first human couple because they were. Strongs concordance, by referring to Adam and Eve as Mankind, is probably saving space by not continually referring to them as Adam and Eve all the time...I seriously doubt Strongs, as an authoritative and dedicated source reference, would deny the literal existence of Adam and Eve as the first literal couple.

  4. b/c it is written in the bible.

  5. because in theory when world was ended last time, those are the two people who is responsible for raising new world i suppose.

  6. Because Christians believe in a lot of nonsense...

Christianity is the belief that a cosmic Jewish zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your sould that is present in humanity becaus a woman made from a rib was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree

  7. Bible Sucks.

    I Know THE TRUTH

  8. Yes. Adam was the first man.

  9. adam may be name symbolizing the first man evolved from another species.

  10. yeah,  100% - you are right

  11. It's logical thinking. If you did not know about the cave man am sure you would come up with a similar idea.

Let's say someone made this gigantic family tree. Instead of ending it with a wide spread of family members they ended it with 2 people thinking that they wore the founders of all of us. But the true is, we all come from different tribes of "apes". Sorry to brake it to u but i think your old enough to know the truth. :)

  12. Ever heard of Indian whispers? Thats how the bible was written. Very few people knew how to write and any truths that remained of the "Indian whispers" would have been edited by the scribe to conform with his own beliefs. For all we know "Adam and Eve" may have been aliens.........

  13. There had to be other people around, otherwise where did their wife's come from?

  14. yes he was

  15. Good question and believe it or not I was recently led to an interesting explanation that explained how Adam comes from the Hebrew word Adameh LaElyon - which means "I will be like the most high." It follows that he wasn't the first man on earth nor was he the first human to be a male. But instead he was the first man to discover our true purpose in life. 6,000 years ago he was asked the question "what's the meaning of life" and after much searching and diligence he was led to the know the answer. Which is to become like the force that created us. And Adam wasn't just the first person to question our purpose or figure out our goal in life, but mainly because he was able to reach the goal too. You can say he was the first person to attain the attributes and qualities of the upper force that created us.

But what are these qualities? What are these attributes that seemed to be concealed from our awareness? And more importantly how can we follow in Adam's footsteps to do the same?

Well if you feel you like Adam in the sense that your willing to search too, then I've attached a link to a nice article that may help point you in the right direction. It turns out, that Adam was more of a scientist too, because he left a practical method for us to follow, based on his experience, so that when the time was right, when humanity would start asking the same questions as he did - What's the meaning of life.

Would we have a way to find out.

  16. Adam and Eve were the first human couple of God of the Bible, believed to be progenators of great societies and long established world religions with significant influence in history and current events.

I don’t know if Adam and Eve were the first human couple, or the first human couple that mattered, or characters in a legend told by a great storyteller. I do know the teachings in the Bible have had tremendous influence and inspiration over generation after generation of families and civilizations, and I would be more honored to have descended from Adam and Eve with the beliefs, code of ethics, and philosophy of life begun there than I would to have descended from Adam and Eve of the apes.

  17. The Adam in the bible never existed.

  18. The same reason Christians mistakenly think that their God is merciful and forget that he killed millions in the bible.
