  3. The area was always in question, but through land acquition and war, we got what we wanted

  4. I am amazed at how many people answering questions slept through US history classes.

Texas was a Mexican Territory sparsely settled. The Mexican government invited US citizens to come to Texas and settle the land, thinking the immigrants would develop the territory and become loyal Mexican citizens.  The Texans brought with them their culture which was different from Mexico's and as soon as the immigrants became the majority population, they revolted in 1836 against Mexico and formed the Independent Nation of Texas.

Years later, Texas abandoned its Independence and joined the US and became a state of the US with the provision that should the Texans decide it would benefit them, they can break up into 5 separate states on just a vote of the Texas population. The thought at that time was it would give Texas people more influence in the Federal Government by having more representatives and senators.

In 1846 Mexico still considered Texas as a province of Mexico in Rebellion and sent troops to reclaim it. The US became involved and the Mexican / American war occurred with the US victorious.

In the Treaty ending the war, Mexico agreed to succeed to the US the territories of New Mexico ( which included Arizona and southern Colorado, Utah and Nevada) and the territory of California.  It took many years of negotiation for the final international boundary to be established.

  5. They were originally spanish territory but i have no idea how they became part of the us.

  6. Search Wikipedia and the answer is there.  Interesting.

  7. Mexico came into being so that Spain could pay Rome. The 200 year head start that Spain had in the New World was to plunder for the greater glory of her Church. Without investment, Latin America, Mexico included, never expanded beyond her Franciscian missionaries. The Americans on the other hand were capitalists and always seeking expansion. War by the US obtained CA, NM, northern AZ. Gadsen Purchase obtained southern AZ for the railroads and the Texans had their own Republic country before the American Civil War.

  8. A war of agression... just like when Hitler took Poland or Saddam Hussien invaded Kuwait

  9. This is the subject of several HUNDRED very THICK books... it is WAY beyond the scope of Answers.

Yes, all those states were originally part of Mexico, but how they became part of the U.S. would take entirely too much room to tell you.

You need to go to a LIBRARY and have them get you started on this... it really IS a very extensive subject.

  10. illegal immigrants from the 13 british colonies invaded our mexican land, the rest is history........

  11. They really were part of Mexico. The Mexican-American war gained the US those territories. We fought them for it.

  12. The Americans had an eye on the western front,

USA annexed them from mexico do to the Mexico/ USA war, a US Regiment attacked mexico around texas border and lied about them starting the war, lasted many years , with USA ultimately marching towards Mexico D.F.(federal district ARGUABLY  known as most populated city on earth) And forced them to hand over most states

note that USA took advantage of the situaton that mexico was in, they were weak from the Mexican revolution against the spanish, and They went through a series of unstable Governments and rulers.
