  1. I would take him as president. My reasons are by then he had finished pretty well what was a learning experience on other two. Washington was never a genius as a general. When originally selected to command the Continental army by congress his first reaction speaks volumes. He thought it should gone to general Andrew Lewis the commander of Va. troops in Lord Dunmores war with the Shawnee indians in 1774....His strength was he learned from every defeat. By wars end he was undoubtedly the most effective commander in the Revolution on either side. As a person he started as a typical Va. planter. He thought Africans were naturally inferior and supported slavery. He had a violent temper he learned to control in later life. By the end of his life he no longer believed in slavery. He may have learned that from how effectively British Regt. composed of former slaves fought him....so I pick as a person. The fact Washington had both nobility and true humility as demonstrated by his willingness to learn and change all his life is my measure of a great human being.....

  2. First and foremost a Person which led to his qualities as a General which in time made him an ideal 'First' President - - -  it is difficult to tell how Washington would have dealt with the American Presidency in later years.  But is was the quality of Washington's character that led him to success in many other fields; surveyor, plantation owner, designer of his home as well as a war & political leader.
