  1. I liked Tejano(Tex-Mex) Music 4 like a Year, when i started listening 2 music. then i started listening 2 rap in about `95 & i havent stopped since!

  2. No, when you're black...you also grew up listening to Marvin, Al Green, Stevie, Chaka...because of your parents.

edit: Sweet James is on it!

And I'd like to add that I hate when some non-blacks feel they know hip-hop better than Blacks. Which is BS because we can listen to a track and identify a Franky Beverly sample, or Ohio Players sample (because of our folks) and they can't....sorry had to go there.

edit: Sweet James, have you heard this Johnnie Taylor track?

edit: Yeah, love that track, but here's my favorite Isley Bros. track. Most people never heard of this it's a rare classic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=714-Dsoj1...

edit: No, it sounds like it's from the Curts Mayfield era.

  5. I grew up with my dad listening to Pink Floyd, so I kind of got into that, but as soon as I heard hip hop I fell in love with H.E.R.

  6. hip-hop is the first and only.

  7. i was on some rock and roll stuff...but hiphop was at the same time.

  8. Everyone has their own perspectives on music, but when i was a kid i liked Pop, but as a grew up Underground Hip hop was my favorite genre

  9. Nah , when I was a kid I listend to Spanish Music Los Temerarios , Caminantes,Tigeres del Norte,Ramon Ayala, Vicente Fernandez and Sonora Dynamita. Still love my musica .

  10. I used to think that ish was scary when I was younger...I used to like Backstreet Boys lol. Eminem was the first rapper I liked tho.

  11. No R&B was, because I grew up listening to it(mostly because of my parents), and because I wasnt allowed to listen to RHH until I got to high school because my parents didnt want me exposed to the cussing

  12. Nah. I liked Jazz until about 11 years old lol.

  13. I might have like other stuff more many probably singing and stuff but I think I always like some rap and hip-hop.

The only reason why I use to like them other genres (no not just singing) was because well I was younger and people listened to it around me and I just got use to it and then I got use to the rap/hip-hop/r&b and now that's my final one I know that for sure I might like others later on but I will always like hip-hop and I can relate to it and I know it pretty wel and I wanna be a singer/rapper to.

  14. when little I listened to Rock Latino

  15. i must say it was

  16. I liked pop & rapcore (Linkin Park ect.), but then I soon (within weeks) found those genres sucked so I started listening to rap, and that's all i listen to now.

  18. Nah, I grew up listening to RnB and Blues and Jazz.  My gramps was the first person to sit me down and teach me about music and he is who introduced me to RHH.  He also told me to always keep an open mind.  So I listen to a little bit of everything.

  25. Not really...mom and pops had me listening to salsa and merengue music...It used to annoy me when I was younger...but I appreciate the music now that Im older...

  26. no

  27. Old School R&B & Blues.

My pops and momma used to play it around me. I remember those songs before I heard hip-hop. Songs like....

Marvin Gaye - Whats Going On

Al Green - Lets Stay Together

Kenny Latimore - Lets Straighten It Out

    Johnnie Taylor - Good Love

EDIT - I agree with that fully. Not knocking nobodys knowledge but its also certain songs nobody else will really truly feel like we do. Any song aimed at the young black youth if you not living it you just don't know how it feels. You might think you do but you don't.

EDIT - Aww man you took me back. I got the greatest hits album playing right now. Remember this...

Ohio Players - I Want To Be Free
