Was I the only one disappointed with Sherrilyn Kenyon's Acheron?

I had to literally force myself to read the first part. I think Sherrilyn could have had the same affect with a couple of flashbacks. I hated the heroine Tory. Sorry. I just did not see what was so special about her. She reminded me of Grace Alexander, Bride and Tabitha sister. I also thought the first part was too long and the second part too short. Anyone agree?

I've been on the fence about reading the Dark Hunter series for awhile but from what I've been hearing about Acheron (from others, not just you) I don't think I'm as interested anymore.
