Religion has to be accepted by the heart so how can one be converted by the sword? The prophet (PBUH) used the sword in times of self-defence and when there was oppression of his people and others. Islam has spread because of people willingly accepting it in their hearts, or else it would not have!

how come you have so many people reverting to Islam..or they did in the past if Islam was forced or spread by the sword?

Islam was spread by proof and evidence, in the case of those who listened to the message and responded to it.

And Allah (SWT) is the source of strength. May Allah(SWT) bless our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions, and grant them peace.

Some islamic hater put an "s" in front of the word "word," and so it became sword.

Islam was spread because people saw how great the Prophets personality was, he was the type of person where for example....if u insulted him, he would greet you the next day and give u a smile....or another example i heard that he did, whenever he shoock someones hand, he would not let go first since he thought that could mean he disrespected the other person, mashallah Allah chose such a nice kind hearted man to be his Messenger

another reason how Islam was spread because, of the Quran, the words are so beautitul that no man can ever come up with such a book, never

Islam was not spread by the sword. It was spread by the word (Islamic teachings) and the example of its followers. Islam teaches that there is no compulsion in religion (the Holy Qur'an 2:256 and 10:99).

A sword may conquer the body, but it won't conquer the heart, a good example that Islam was not spread by the sword is Indonesia, china, Russia ......
