  1. it was veterans and experience VS young guns and 1st time playoff players.   Next year could be totally different, the Pens took a lot of experience out of that.  Forget you Hossa

  2. no. Pittsburgh was not seasoned enough. if they brought the same lineup up against the wings this year in the finals, i think it would be pretty even.

  3. penguins win next year, sorry hossa

  4. Well, all I ever heard as soon as it weas decided the Pens would face the Wings was the simple fact that Pens was full of yougn guys and Wings were all old so the Pens were gonna skate all over the Wings.  People failed to take into account, the experience and conditioning the Wings go through.  I knew the Wings were more conditioned but felt pretty bad for the pens when the announcers were talking about them being winded towards the end of the 1st period.  So, I'd have to say - no it wasn't an even match.  Young and experience will never outdo aged and expereinced.  I just hope the Pens work on their conditioning during the off-season.

  5. No, the Penguins were the underdog. I'm no Vegas odds mathematician, but I would guess the Wings had them as the 3-2, 4-1 favourite.

  6. What do you mean, "even match"?  Unless one of the teams cheated, then everything was even...No two teams are going to match up exactly the same...

  7. wings a better team all around but pitts still looks good to me.

  8. GO REDWINGS!! STANLEY IS OURS!! AMAZZING SEASON BOYS!!

  9. The Pens have more younger players than the Red Wings do and with age comes experience, so the Red Wings knew what they were doing while the Pens were just starting to figure out what worked for them and what didn't. I still have no doubt that Sid will be kissing Lord Stanley next year, though!!! (Lucky Stanley!)

  10. no.

detroit has more experience, they're older.

    they deserved it.

  11. No....it was a very good series and went a long ways toward bringing hockey back from some pretty lean years. The Wings had some very distinct advantages and it showed throughout the series. This isnt a knock on the Pens at all, they were tremendous and have a great group to go forward with. The Wings depth displayed itself, the Pens got no breaks on the ice while the Pens 4th line virtually never got on the ice and when they did it usually wasnt pretty. The defensive breakdowns were pretty one sided, the Wings exposed some weakness with zone coverage. The forwards overall seemed pretty evenly matched on the top 2 lines with a bigger gap between the 7th through 12 forwards of the Wings being better than the Pens. Plus the Wings (specifically Holmstrom, Franzen and Cleary) seemed far more willing to pay the price in front of the net to set screens. Fluery had no chance on some of the goals....cant block what you cant see. The biggest thing I noticed though was that Babcock very badly outcoached Therrien. He made quick adjustments and had the Wings better prepared. Plus he kept them focused only on the part they could control...the play on the ice. Therrien seemed pre occupied by officials and matchup issues instead of execution. He let the supposedly more physical Pens get outphysicalled by the supposedly light hitting Wings.

The Pens have a great nucleous and should be a contender for a long time but keep in mind that despite the people who claim the Wings are old their entire nucleous besides Lidstrom and Osgood are in their 20s as well.

  12. Well..........the red wings won more...so the favor was prolly more toward the Wings....so i would say no.

  13. Not really.

Detroit Outclassed Pittsburgh in every facet, But its not just Detroit that would have outclassed them like that.

The Big Difference between West conference and east conference teams is that, the west focuses on defensive play as much as offensive play where as the East puts all faith in offense and hopes for the best.

Pittsburgh was overloaded with Offense only talents and when face to face with a defense they basically disappeared. Pittsburgh doesn't possess the talent to shut down players like Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Rafalski, Lidstrom. Or the ability to push players like Holmstrom or Franzen out of the front of the net.  Which is what ultimately lead to there downfall.

  14. Detroit was far more experienced and had the "been there done that" attitude. Learning experience for the Pens, just another season for those Wings. >=/ lol

  15. The Pens had a problem maintaining the intensity level. That only comes with time, and good coaching,

  16. Score 17-10 Det...

    Hits- Advantage DET

    Faceoffs- Advantage DET

    Save %- DET
