Was Java Man Excavated Professionally?

I hear that java man's excavation was extrememly unproffesional, but I can't verify that on the internet -- can anyone help? I need to know for a reasearch project, so if you could cite your source that would be great!

  2. The first discovery of Java man in 1891 was done according to the standards of the time, which were not nearly as rigorous as those used now.  Later digs nearby in 1936 and later used techniques closer to those of modern scientists.

    This site does a "quick and dirty" explanation of some of the issues around Dubois find - mainly, concern that the remains were not all from the same specimen but subsequent finds have confirmed this hominid.

    So, you could probably say that the first specimen was excavated as professionally as many other fossils of the time.  Rigorous stands take time to develop .
