  1. The prophecy of the one coming "The Messiah" was that he was to be born in King David city, that was the birth place of David(King David, from the tribe of Judah) If you believe Jesus was and is the Messiah, who cares what the historians doubts!

  2. yes according to the bible

Historians say they have their doubts because they want people to know their names worldwide

but also they are different religions thats why

  3. Nope. It was actually The Bronx. That explains how he's white.

  4. What does the bible say?

  5. Yes.(Luke.2:4-7)

Either the scriptures are the truth, or else they are lying, and it is irrelevent in what historians conclude; that is, from the view of a Christian, there is faith, and nothing wavering.

  6. DO NOT TEMPT THE LORD,  THY GOD!

  7. No one knows.

The fact that two gospel writers who described a birth got him born in Bethlehem yet from Nazareth in two different ways suggests that the story was made up to coincide with beliefs that a Messiah would be born in Bethlehem and be called a Nazarene.

(As per Matthew, they appeared to live in Bethlehem but went to Nazareth after fleeing to Egypt.  As per Luke, they were originally from Nazareth, traveled to Bethlehem, then returned home after the birth.)

  8. Nah, it was L.A.

  9. There were two Bethlehems You might be familiar with the christmas Carol O little town of Bethlehem Little to differentiate it from the other

  10. Historians do indeed have their doubts, but since it was prophesied in the old Testament that the Messiah was to be from Bethlehem, I would tend to disregard the historians naysaying since they have no definitive proof. Thanks for asking.

  11. He was really born in Canowindra but it wouldn't translate into Greek so they had to pick another place.

  12. I recently watched a documentary about the birth of Jesus. There are actually two Biblical cities named "Bethlehem".

The traditional Bethlehem in Judah. There is also a Bethlehem in Zebulun. It is now now a ruin. This Bethlehem was located about 6 miles north west of Nazareth. It's mentioned specifically only once in the Bible.  In my opinion, Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Zebulun.  Makes better sense that Joseph would come from this city.  It would be a reasonable journey to make with a woman about to give birth.

  13. All of the hard evidence that mentions Jesus confirms that He was born in Bethlehem.  Even his enemies agreed that He was born there (see Matthew 1).  Later they would note that He came from Nazareth, so perhaps they set aside or forgot His actual birthplace.

There were a couple of censuses that were taken at about the time of His birth.  And one of the best tax collectors for Caesar was involved with one of them, so it seems likely that a census did mark Jesus' birth.

  14. the only reliable accounts of the event are those of the gospels,i don't think there's any reason to believe otherwise.

  15. you have God's Word on it

    .

Mat 2:1 ¶ Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

Mat 2:2  Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

  16. The thousands of New Testament scrolls record it as Bethlehem. Also,  Dead Sea Scrolls prophesied Bethlehem.

  17. Regarding Jesus’ birth: Isaiah 7:14, “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” Isaiah 9:6, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Micah 5:2, “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times."

Joseph and Mary’s trip to Bethlehem (Luke 2:4-7)

  18. Matt 2:1

1 ¶ NOW when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

    Matt 2:5

5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,

    Matt 2:6

6 And thou Bethlehem, [in] the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

  19. From what I've read, His birth took place in a grotto of caves outside Bethlehem. Afterward, they moved closer to town.

  20. Yes.

  21. Probably not.  There's no record of the census that allegedly sent Joseph and Mary there.  He was probably from Nazareth in Galilee.

  22. Somehistorians probably do have their doubts .....but only because they do not wish to accept.

  23. Yes, Jesus was really born in Bethlehem.  King Herod believed it too--he had all the boys aged 2 and under murdered because he wanted Jesus to be dead.

  24. Yeah, but it was Bethlehem, PA.

  25. The Gospels are our only sources on the events of Jesus' life. That means it's hard to disprove anything they say about his life directly; but it also means there is no direct support for anything they say, either.

There are reasons to doubt the Biblical account of Jesus' childhood. As I understand it, there is no corroborating evidence that King Herod ordered a massacre of infants, like the one that supposedly forced Jesus and his family to flee from Bethlehem to Egypt. It's pretty unlikely that such an event would have completely escaped the historical record. To me, that casts doubt on the Gospels' accuracy when it comes to the details of Jesus' early life, including his birthplace.
