Question:

Was Juan Diaz overconfident?

Or did he spend to much time trying to call out a smaller fighter in Pacquiano? I greatly enjoyed watching the "baby bull" get taught a boxing lesson by the old grandfather Nate Campbell.

  1. I'm sure Campbell grinding his head, gloves, shoulders, and the occasional elbow into Diaz's face played a part too.

I can't believe I actually heard Emmanuel Steward praising him for fighting dirty.

  2. He was just out-Diazed. Nate Cambell outworked him and outlasted him at what Juan Diaz does best. I think the cut above his eye had a lot to do with his slow digression too as the corner seemed to have no effective way to deal with the cut and it blurred his vision in the middle rounds and was totally closed shut by the end of the fight.

Hopefully Diaz will learn from this and become a better boxer because of it. Hats off to the Galaxy Warrior Nate Cambell - I never saw it coming. (Apparently neither did Diaz)

  3. I think he was way overconfident. When Campbell came charging out at him from the start it threw him off his game. Plus a couple of headbutts by Campbell (not the one he was deducted for)  and the constant pressure also seemed to crush Diaz's confidence. From round 7 Campbell controlled the fight and I have no idea what the one judge was watching by scoring it for Diaz. But it will be good for Juan in the long run, have a rematch or get in better shape (notice the flab around his waist) fight a tuneup then try for another shot at the belt. I was very impressed by both fighters and Campbell is like a real life ''Rocky'' story. A guy who took up fighting at 24!? Now champion. Great for the sport!

  4. I dint think he was overconfident he was just beat by the better guy. He finally had someone in front of him who he couldn't overwhelm that had the experience to stand his ground and fight. Daiz was outworked Nate didn't really seam to box until the end of the fight when he stoped throwing everything he had and just picked his shots car fully. Daiz couldnt handle the adversity but he's a good fighter and should have no problem coming back. GOOD LUCK BABY BULL

  5. I dont think Diaz was over confident, just out boxed. Campbell beat Diaz with smart boxing. I like Diaz and he's good. Diaz is a straight brawler. Diaz fought too open but had some good combonation. Campbell just put together some veteran moves and preserved his wind. Another case of boxer beats brawler.
