  1. Not to me, I hoped old Freddy would get another chance. Peiterson has a high opinion of himself. He will proberly get up everyones nose before to long.

  2. Yes i think so.He was the first player who came to my mind when i heard about Vaughan and he will do a good job i think..His youth will bring the England team alive..

  3. Yes he was the most obvious choice, realistically he is the only one who can do it at the moment anyway. All of the other candidates are either too young, have all ready done it, or not consistent enough in either form of the game. KP is the natural choice to succeed Vaughan, I think he'll do a good job too.

  4. i dont think so... collingwood , strauss and trescothick all there

  5. yup

  6. Yes of course he was

    He was the only player guarenteed to play in both forms of the game. Ian Bell has played both test cricket and ODI cricket for a while now, but he has hit a bad spell in ODI's.

    The selectors wanted someone to lead the side in both forms of the game, Pietersen was the only suitable candidate, If Strauss had been an ODI regular he would have got the job.

    So seeing as KP was the only option, he was the obvious choice

    (Flintoff was never going to get the captaincy, after the debacle what was the 06/07 Ashes, and the fact that he is already the leading bowler and talisman of the team, so he would have had too much workload)

  7. Yes.

    In fact, he was the only realistic choice, as he is the only man who can command a place in both the Test and ODI teams, and does not have his place in jeopardy in either side.

    The other candidates:

    Strauss has been in patchy form at Test level, and is on the fringes of the ODI side;

    Collingwood: Was the heir apparent, but resigned the ODI captaincy, thereby ruling himself out of the Test role;

    Cook: Not ready yet, and like Strauss on fringes of ODI team;

    Bell: Is still trying to justify his place in both teams;

    Flintoff: Too over-burdened, and haunted by the pedalo escapade;

    Key: Not played internationally for four years, and has a moderate Test record.

    Perhaps they should have set the cat among the pigeons, and given it to Steve Harmison. Or even better, found a player none of us have ever heard of, and picked him as England's captain.

  8. Not that I know much about the England team's individual players, but from comments here I guess he was, but like your first answerer, I have a big soft spot for Flintoff.I know of course he wasn't in contention but I can dream can't I? lol

  9. Yea, he is the star player of the england team. i think he has the potential to become a very good captain.

  10. by the by who is kp
