Was Karl Marx evil or just simply incorrect? (Only those who have actually read his work, please)

Did he ever say or imply that people should kill for his theories? If so in what way?

Was he against the freedom, speech, press and religion?

Did he ever cause mental or physical harm to anyone, personally?

Why was he always being exiled?

  1. To call Marx evil is to blame him for consequences of his writings that he could not possibly have foreseen. His deterministic, quasi-Newtonian vision of history can now be seen to be naive, but that was not so clear in the mid-19th century.

Clearly he valued the freedom of the press he had in Britain, which he certainly would not have had if he had stayed in Germany.

Personally, I think he was a rather mild family man.

As far as being "always" exiled, I think he went to Britain and stayed there. He is buried in a London cemetery.

  2. I am a little perplexed because I read a few pages of his book where he seemed to endorse capitalism.  I'm not really sure if he did anything at all in his life other than wrote the communist manifesto.

  3. 'Let the ruling classes tremble at a Communistic revolution. The proletarians having nothing to lose but their chains.'

Not evil, a man of his time, using a language of revolution and warfare to describe a class conflict that was/is a matter of survival for the proletariat.  An exhortation to cast off the chains of capitalism, the owners of said chains would not give them up without an equal struggle. The language of Conflict theory has often been interpreted in the way you have described.

His ideas were incredibly dangerous for the ruling classes, he was calling for the mass conscious raising of the working people...he recognised the role the church had played in the subordination of working people.

I think he would have realised that any revolution would not be without blood shed.

But, his theories have been crucial in the inception of so many other ideologies.

  4. He was both.  He knew he was incorrect, and presented his ideas as if they weren't, which makes him evil.

  5. PREDATORY CAPITALISM WILL ALWAYS COME DOWN.CAPITALISM AND USURY IS NOT SUSTAINABLE. BADLY GOVERNED COMMUNISM MAY COME DOW. ITS NOT ABOUT "ISMS" ITS ALL ABOUT "GOOD GOVERNANCE" AND MAKING SURE EVERY ONE IS SECURE, SAFE WITH SUSTAINABILITY IN REMOTE FUTURE
