Was Merv Dillon ever good enough to be Walsh's replacement? Why or why not? If yes, why do you think he failed to live up to his billing?

  1. Potentially YES!

Dillon is one of the biggest under-achievers in recent times, on his day he had the talent, ability and temperament to run through batting line-ups, but yet his day never seemed to come.

I remember one of the first times i saw him play, it was against England in the late 90's. Dillion bowled a "Walsh like spell" to remove the England opener (i think it was Nick Knight) and then Dillon showed amazing control to keep it tight at the start. I remember telling my friends at school to watch Dillon.

Maybe he lacked the pace of Walsh, but like i said on his day he was dangerous.

Why did he not live up to his potential?

A mixture of niggling injuries and lack of variation, Courtney Walsh had pace and movement and could take wickets on flat pitches with roaring pace, Dillon just didnt have the same bite in my opinion

  2. hes the one of the most worst bowler ive ever seen in my life

  3. he underachieved~

    yes in vain

  4. No, I don't think so. I didn't see much of him playing, but from the little I saw, I gathered that he was, as far as technique and athleticism went, he could match Courtney Walsh. But what went awry was that he was basically always destined to be a stock bowler. He seemed unwilling or unable to adapt to any other delivery other than the inswinger, and that eventually cost him as batsmen played him easily. Walsh had the ability to totally outfox a batsman with a deadly medley of pace and spin and swing. Dillon didn't have that.

  5. i dont think so , hw was never consistence
