  1. The Yankees are Gringos.  Gabachos are from the area between Barcelona and France and are called Gabuchines not Gachopines.  I think related to the word Gaucho perhaps.  The Aztecan people originally were part of the nomad tribes who wandered the northern section between San Luis Potosi and perhaps into the Sonoran, Chihuahua deserts, perhaps even into the territories occupied later by the Arizona and New Mexico tribes and were a bit tough.  About seven different tribes of Chichimecas one of which established the famouse period of the Tolteca epoc.  Later to reappear in the valley of Tenochtitlan and settle around the Chapultepec area eventuating in the famouse chinampas and floating city of Tenochtitlan.  Little by little they conquered and assimulated the surrounding tribes with an empire extending far into the south, Guatemala and to the east as far as the islands go and were aware of the appearance of Columbus.

The Irish that fought with the Mexican army against the invasion of General Scott was mostly a thing of catholic religion and personal choice and were treated severely by the invaders when caught, permanently branded on the cheek with a large capital "D" for life, if not hung.  The Black Irish were those who defended Ireland against the invading protestant English army and felt an afinity with the invaded people of Mexico under attack by the protestant US Army.

Aztlan was the name of the city south of Taos New Mexico abandoned and left to this day unkown as to who or where its builders went.  Now it is the name of the mystical innards of what is known as the Toltecan Warrier or more aptly put, "Impeccable Warrior" and touches upon each and every human being in that we all have within us such a thing, we are what we do and the more impeccably we achieve this the better our ability to understand reality and do better at achieving our goals.

  2. All I know is the Aztecs were groups of natives who made their culture in today Mexico. The empire was destroyed by the Spanish because they wanted their gold. The Yankees today are the New York's base ball team. In the19th century it was the nickname for north side of the army from the civil war. I think that Chichimecas and the Gachupines were also Native American groups cause the names sure sound like it.

  3. Not at all! while the cities were huge compare to many others in this world, they were far from being the most technologically advanced and economically advanced in this world! At that period, China was the most developed nation on this planet, with the largest population, and the most advanced technology. Also, China did have many vassal states at the time, like India, Malaysia, Phillipines, Indonesia, Vietnam, and many more! Also, they got the largest fleet of warship that the world has ever seen with about 30000 to 50000 soldiers.

All in all, they were at least 10 times bigger than the Aztecs of the time...

  4. The Gachupines in the sense you probably are asking were Spanish-born people in colonial Mexico. Their children were "Criollos" or Mexican-born people of Spanish blood (i.e. not "mestizos" or people of mixed Spanish-indigenous blood). The Gachupines had more legal and property rights and a higher social caste than the Criollos.

Mexico's struggle for independence from Spain in 1810 began largely as a movement of Criollos rebelling against these limitations. The independence leader Padre Hidalgo, himself a Criollo, called on the Mexican people to overthrow the Gachupines, who were hated for their severe expxloitation of the massed of the Mexican people.

As to the Irish, the "San Patricios" were a brigade of Irish soldiers who fought on the Mexican side in the Mexican-American war. Most were immigrants to the US who had fled the potato famine and joined the US Army because they had few other options. Most had been fighting under General Taylor. Weary of their mistreatment by Anglo-Protestant officers and feeling guilty at fighting against fellow Catholics, they deserted and joined the other side.

Many were captured by the Americas, tried for desertion and treason and hanged.

The San Patricios are remembered and honored in Mexico today as great heroes.

  5. This doesn't prove a point, plus the Spanish kicked the Aztec's butt when conquering their empire.

  6. No. The Aztecs were technologically a good deal less advanced than contemporary European, Asian, and African civilizations. They had very little metalworking, most of their tools were made of stone. They knew how to work gold and silver but they never really seem to have made the mental leap from that to the usefulness of metal tools (history has other examples of such strange shortcomings, think of how long it took to invent the stirrup). The ancient Egyptians were more technologically advanced than the Aztecs (they had bronze tools), let alone sixteenth century Chinese or Ottomans.

If the Aztecs were the most developed civilization during the sixteenth century why do you think Cortez whupped them so bad? The Conquistadors had metal armor and swords and early guns, the Aztecs had no metal armor and wooden clubs with pieces of obsidian stuck in them.

  7. I would say, in some aspects, yes. But then again, the pre-Colombian Americans never developed the wheel or a system of writing. Any glyphs you see in Mexican ruins are numerological.

  8. The Aztecs were less advanced than earlier MesoAmerican societies, the old world was more advanced than MesoAmerica period. For the most part there weren't any Aztecs left they were dead or interbred with the Coquering Spaniards. Mexico comes from this, the children of Aztec and Spanish stock united to run the pure imperialist Spaniards off. Later in the mis 1850's Mexico offered a number of Irish Families citizenship if they would settle regions that could potentially be re occupied by the Spanish or the French. My Family comes from one of these settlements near the Old Cotto Indian lands. After a period of bringing Irish Families in to help keep land for Mexico. The Irish weren't fighting Aztecs. Now Mexico has a notorious and terrible history when it comes to indian populations. They did the samething America. Americans conquered and put natives on reservations but in Mexico they didn't they kept fighting their indian populations well into the 1970's. The last was in 1978 near the Arizona border. Mexican military began a campaign against a non militant tribe on the boarder. The US interveined and relocated the tribe to within the Arizona boarder. You can visit this tribe to this day.
