  3. The first black Heavyweight champion was Jack Johnson who won the title in 1908 over Tommy Burns and lost it to Jess Willard in 1915.  He was known as The Galveton Giant and Lil' Arthur and is widely considered one of the greatest fighters in boxing history.

  5. Nooo Jack Johnson was the first.  Being white, I am noone to comment on his contributions to African American life other than I know he is a man of his convictions. A role model for those who stand in their beliefs. Im sure there many untold stories of him contributing money to charities that people don't know about.
