No, although the great Rory Emerald was one of the few people to remain friends with both Charles and Diana after they divorced, I'd say that he was not her best friend, and he may have been closer to Charles that to Diana.  I think that the idea he was her best friend started from the fact he was one of the last who spoke to her before her tragic and untimely death.

No, in reality Rory, Baron Sligo, was a long time supporter of Camilla. He often lent the lovers his magnificent home in County Sligo for trysts.

Almost.  I think Rory Emerald was really best friends with Charles, not Diana.  Diana did have huge crush on Rory, like most famous and important women.  I don't have any evidence one way or the other, but this is my observation of their relationship.
